Welcome…
Throughout life; from beginning to end…we continuously learn, unlearn, modify and
up-grade our, general/overall, understanding of life. We’ve a
vested interest, in “just how things seem to work”…relations…advancement,
etc., etc.. Early on, ideas are
formed…tested…advanced…modified…re-formulated…re-proven…and, occasionally, re-evaluated, with the help of insight.
That’s what we’re trying to develop…and
strengthen.
What we’re trying to do…
Insight enhances our ability to see things, clearly. In order that we may access
good insight, a renewal of focus is
required (from time to time). That
provides us with a better picture of on-going situations, up-coming
“likelihoods”, and personal position
(regarding surroundings, personal and social relations, and self-assessment). Most of us,
of course, have used some degree of insight
from early childhood on. But consider
this:
Most of us have some awareness that this life is a
pretty impressive (if not wonderful) thing.
But, during times of substantial challenge, there may be a tendency to focus
on negative aspects. Too much of this
will distract us from goals to the degree that we increase our determination
not to become so distracted from then on… possibly, to excess.
This
could be a problem, depending on exact circumstances. Such “reluctance” might lead to overwhelming negative events and influences to the point where we are
unable to progress, normally.
Failing to make the
kind of steady/dependable progress
which forms “stepping stones” toward
goals, we look to a sense of more general
progress (in life as a whole). That requires more appreciation for, and
devotion to, the very tiniest “conquests”
in life. Only then can they become real
positive factors deserving full credit for their contribution. But, such “credit” must be limited
to the actual role, played at that time.
These small
accomplishments form “steps” that serve us well. But they do so only so long as
we focus on the path ahead… not the stones beneath our “feet”.
There is a strong tendency to focus
on that which is close.
We, instinctively,
refrain from allowing our attention to get too close to anything we may perceive as distractive or (possibly) undesirable, in a given circumstance. Renewed energies are allocated to efforts seeking the positive influences and perspectives. We tend to be “drawn” by what we perceive as desirable.
The problem, here
is that, should our judgment be just
a tiny
bit off, we may miss “early warning
signs”… suddenly finding our self
in close proximity with things/events/influences not clearly defined. If circumstances or moods dictated, we could find ourselves embracing something very bad…
or, at least, potentially so. If, by
now, we have failed to recognize the situation as negative, we are in for trouble. Assuming
that we have recognized the situation as something that should have
been avoided, in the first place, we
are now forced to immediately initiate a plan of either immediate
extraction or acceptance. This (negative) factor (be it large or small) is a “thing”, which, so long as it remains, will be integrated within and
carried forward.
Such things, of course, vary greatly by degree. Should there be any ambiguity about the future for this situation it might be replaced
by a “hope” that this negative factor may somehow play a tempering
(or other catalytically changing) role. If properly applied it could
contribute positively in future endeavors.
Should ever such a scenario unfold in life, one should be very
much aware that a strong negative
element, embedded within both motivation and action, is now playing a
role… an important one requiring monitoring.
